Barcelona Nautic Center expands its area to 2.6 hectares, strengthening its position as a leading shipyard in the Mediterranean
Barcelona Nautic Center, strategically located on the Muelle de Llevant in the Port of Barcelona, has announced an ambitious expansion of its facilities, consolidating its position as a leading shipyard for the repair and maintenance of small- and medium-sized vessels. The project, approved by the Board of Directors of the Port of Barcelona, expands the center’s concession to 2.6 hectares, including land and water area, with an extension of the concession until September 2043.
This expansion includes a series of key improvements designed to optimize operations and increase the shipyard’s technical capacity, offering a more comprehensive and efficient service to boat owners and professionals in the nautical sector.
Key highlights of the expansion project
- Replacement of the current travel lift with a 330-ton capacity model, allowing the handling of larger vessels and a wider variety of types. This upgrade will significantly improve the operational flexibility of the yard, optimizing maintenance and repair services.
- Expansion of the water area, adding 22 new berths for afloat repairs of vessels between 12 and 45 meters in length, equipped with water and electricity supply.
- Installation of a 20-ton crane, designed for smaller vessels.
- Construction of a dry dock pit for vessels up to 13 meters in beam, enabling service for catamarans up to 24 meters in length.
- The total concession will cover 18,239 m² of land and 7,810 m² of water area, including buildings housing workshops and offices.
Project implementation
The works will be carried out in several phases, coinciding with periods of lower activity, with the aim of minimizing interruptions to current services. The expansion will take effect from January 1, 2025, following the dismantling of the temporary facilities used during the America’s Cup.
A new standard in nautical services
